Rollingstone Ranch Golf Club sits in the beautiful northern Colorado town of Steamboat Springs. Nestled along the flanks of Mt. Werner, it features stunning views of the Flat Top Mountains, tumbling streams and dramatic tee shots. A Robert Trent Jones II designed golf course that opened for 18-hole play in the summer of 1974, this championship-caliber course provides the player with panoramic views, spectacular bentgrass/Poa annua greens and manicured bluegrass/ryegrass fairways and roughs. Sixty-six fairway and greenside sand bunkers protect the large, undulating greens while water hazards and elevation changes will test even the best shot maker. Scenic Fish Creek weaves in and out while fairways are framed by aged aspen and evergreen trees. Enhancing this unique pristine setting is the wildlife. Players often see moose, elk, eagles, and maybe even a bear. The wildlife scenery is second to none. This magnificent mountain design will test the best players while still providing comfortable playing characteristics to be enjoyed by golfers of all skill levels.
Peak season greens fees are $245 and will most likely be lower in September.
Consistently voted among the best golf courses to play in Colorado, Haymaker Golf Course was rated the "#5 Golf Course You Can Play in Colorado, 2023" by Golfweek Magazine and "#1 Mountain Golf Course, 2023" by Colorado Avid Golfer Magazine. Owned by the City of Steamboat Springs, this 233-acres of parkland boasts a championship golf course that features at least four sets of tees per hole, playing from 5,059 to 7,308 yards. It has been heralded as a ‘core layout’ using large greens and gentle undulations, which blend seamlessly with the topography of the region.
Players are rewarded by uninterrupted vistas of the Yampa Valley and Mount Werner on every hole. Free from residential development, the only distraction is the local wildlife that calls the parkland ‘home.' Haymaker boasts a large, family friendly practice facility with driving range, sand trap, chipping and putting green. The course lends itself to golfers of all abilities from the novice to the professional.
Greens fees are $130
This is a 9-hole course.
While there is little obstacle by way of length with only one par 4 measuring just over 400 yards, the course is best defended by lush rough, a meandering creek, small and confounding greens, and groves of mature cottonwoods that stand ready to swat down the wayward shot. The course is one of the most enjoyable walking courses one can find in the Rockies. A 9 hole round at Steamboat Golf Club can usually be completed within 2 hours.
Greens fees $25 – 40
Private club. If you know a member, unaccompanied tee times are available.
Golf has two essential dimensions: the game - cast in ritual and tradition, and the course - the great variable. At Catamount Ranch & Club, Members play the majestic Tom Weiskopf signature course, as distinctive as the high country that shaped its design. If the essence of the game is challenge, playing at Catamount Ranch & Club is its best reward. The course complements its setting so perfectly, it might have been found instead of made. This is no ordinary course.
Spanning alpine meadows beneath the splendor of Steamboat's great peaks, the par 72 championship course of 7,088 yards is sanctioned by the Audubon Society for its environmentally sensitive design. Full facilities include a Members' grille, a full-service restaurant, a golf shop and the clubhouse where Members relax and enjoy stunning views from the deck.
Mallory and Jack have made more trips to Steamboat than other Colorado ski towns in their 3+ years in the Centennial State. While they are no experts, they have curated a list of favorite spots in town for everyone to peruse here: https://maps.app.goo.gl/RsuGsfY52rJEvQH17!
There is no shortage of fun to be had in town and the surrounding Steamboat area! Plenty of shops in town offer bike rentals (including electric ones) to cycle along the Yampa River Trail, if the weather's nice people enjoy tubing down the river (though check the water level!), and while neither Jack nor Mallory can endorse this from experience, the Yampa River Valley is a huge fly fishing area as well. We hope our guests take advantage of the Colorado sunshine and beautiful time of year to be in the mountains with some of these ideas!
